First, he tests his reactions against TV anchorman Eamonn Holmes, before taking on actor Richard E Grant in a series of concentration challenges that involve controlling a Scalextric model car and flying a drone simply with mind power. The presenter also realises that to prosper in a battle with memory champion Dominic O'Brien he must resort to cheating.

S3 E6 Richard Ayoade showcases gadgets that highlight the benefits of staying home. Comedian Seann Walsh joins him to check out designs that deliver the health benefits of the great outdoors without the dirt and danger leaving the house can include. Richard then enjoys the company of mechanised pets before inviting comedian David Mitchell round to try out the latest gaming technologies. Lastly, he demonstrates live holographic broadcast technology that allows the host to party without the need for guests to attend, proving that leaving the home could be a thing of the past.

He trains with one of Japan's engineering grand-masters, who made parts for the country's first nuclear power station, and finds out how the nation deals with 1,500 earthquakes a year on the intense simulators at Tokyo's Disaster Training School.

S1 E2 Part two of two. Guy visits a slum in Yokohama, where he sneaks into 'love hotels', illegal gambling dens and the yakuza-organised crime gang headquarters. The rest of his offbeat itinerary includes working with the maintenance team on the world's longest, strongest and most expensive suspension bridge, and training under the mystical guidance of one of Japan's last remaining swordsmiths. Guy also makes a special detour to pay his respects at Hiroshima, where he finds the tram that was up and running just three days after a nuclear bomb destroyed the city in August 1945.

They prepare steak Diane and profiteroles, meet a restaurateur who made eating out trendy and look back on a time when the motorway cafe was the height of sophisticated dining for some.
